Steve’s been visibly distressed and has had clear PTSD from the flashbacks while he’s beating the shit out of that punching bag and the way he has to tell Tony, “Stark, that’s a one way trip,” which is something he knows first hand because that’s basically what Peggy told him before he took down the plane and he still sees people using Hydra weapons and he’s feeling like everything he fought for was pointless because history’s just gonna replay itself out and things never change.

But then Tony did something incredibly brave and incredibly stupid and he did cut that wire but he was gonna take himself out with it but he didn’t and I think Steve’s finally starting to accept that this whole trapped in the future thing can work, that things will be okay, and that no, Bucky isn’t worth 10 of Tony, Tony’s his own person, and he’s an incredible one at that, and he’s glad Tony’s not Bucky, because Tony came back. - (x)

“I had a date.” Steve still thinks about Peggy, thinks about what could have been. She was the first person to fall in love with him — with Steve, not Captain America. Dr. Erskine might have been the one to make him physically strong, but it was Peggy who made him stronger on the inside. But now, there’s a heavy feel to his heart every time he dwells on the fact he’ll never see her again. They’ll never have that date.

Looking past the heartache, Steve can remember the brilliant times they shared. However fleeting those moments were, he’ll cherish them forever. She’ll always have a special place in his heart.

Steve knows that Peggy wouldn’t want him to be miserable in this brand new world. He knows that she’d want him to be happy, because if you love someone, you want them to find happiness. He just never expected to find that happiness in Howard Stark’s son. During the times when he’s with Tony and he thinks of Peggy, he wishes she was there to crack a fondue joke. He’ll always miss her, and he’ll always love her. But he honors her memory by trying to live the best life possible.

I always feel bad when I clog up the dash with my mod posts. So here, accept this wallpaper I made for my new laptop as a piece offering.

#2: “Displaced” - Azure Ray

Steve feels like he doesn’t belong in the world anymore. Everything’s new, everything’s different. And above all else, everyone he once loved is gone.

Tony also feels like he doesn’t belong. He’s different. Most of the time, he uses that as a strength. “Iron Man.” Super cool, super smart, super rich. But sometimes he feels like an extra piece of a puzzle. Sure, he’s a novelty, but does he really fit? He desperately throws himself into constantly saving the world, hoping that this can give him a purpose, give him a place to belong.

And despite all of this, Steve and Tony find each other. They find a place where they both belong. A place where they’re both meant to be.

Hiya right back at you! First off, I want to apologize for replying to you so late. I had read this on my drive up to Anaheim and made a mental note to respond ASAP, but the internet connection in my hotel room was horrendous and then life got in the way, yadda yadda yadda…

I unfortunately haven’t read any fic with suicidal!Tony, mostly because I don’t think my poor heart can handle it, hehe. 

If any of my followers know of any, please let me know! I wish I knew who sent this message so that I can make sure he/she definitely reads this response ;~;
